Abstract
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group delivers innovative and integrated solutions across a wide range of industries from commercial aviation and transportation to power plants and gas turbines, and from machinery and infrastructure to integrated defense and space systems. Last October, MHI group declared “MISSION NET ZERO”, with ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality from its operations and through its entire value chain by 2040. To achieve such goal, MHI group is developing technologies and prompting business strategies on decarbonizing the energy supply infrastructure (Energy Transition), and on achieving energy/manpower saving for energy utilization process (Smart Infrastructure).
In this presentation, we introduce the R&D and open innovation schemes in our group, and our vision on building an innovative solutions ecosystem to realize a carbon neutral future. We hope to explore the collaboration chances with researchers of NUS, NTU and A*STAR, and with other members of Singapore Energy Centre, to co-develop the decarbonization technologies and business solutions which contribute to achieve a carbon neutral world.
Speakers
Teppei Takahashi is the Senior Vice President of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific (MHI-AP), where he oversees the company’s business development activities in Asia Pacific.
Based in Singapore, Takahashi oversees MHI-AP’s project development with focus on energy transition using hydrogen and ammonia. He has over 15 years of experience in commercial management for thermal and geothermal projects.
Takahashi joined MHI in 2001, where he started in the accounting and corporate finance department. After four years at these departments, he moved on to oversee thermal and geothermal power plant projects all over the world, with a focus on projects in Mexico and Kenya. Leveraging his expertise in thermal and geothermal power projects, Takahashi currently oversees the development of energy projects in Asia Pacific to drive the energy transition in the region.
Dr Shinnosuke Osafune is currently General Manager of Global Research & Innovation Center in Singapore since October 2021. Before coming to Singapore, he served as manager to research partner and start-up to realise corporate strategic themes in MHI head quarter in Japan. Previously he also served project manager to develop reciprocating engines for power generations, marine propulsions and vehicles driven by hydrogen gas as well as bio diesel fuel oil within R&D of MHI in Japan. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Kyushu University.
