CORE PROJECT 2024 AWARD
The Singapore Energy Consortium Core Project Call for Proposal was announced in April 2024. The Consortium’s Science and Technology Board convened and awarded four proposals out of the submissions to address the challenges vital in the energy transition, particularly in hydrogen technology, carbon capture and utilization, and low-energy fuels.
These Proposals are (in no particular order):
- “SiC-foam based structured catalyst for process intensification in oxidative coupling of methane to ethylene”, PI: Dr Tao Longgang, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy & Environment (ISCE2).
- “Development of thin-film metal organic framework-based mixed matrix membranes for hydrogen purification and CO2 capture”, Assoc. Prof Zhang Sui, National University of Singapore, College of Design and Engineering, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
- “An innovative pure ammonia marine engine design with high efficiency and zero carbon emission”, Assoc. Prof Yang Wenming, National University of Singapore, College of Design and Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
- “Quantifying the technological impacts and socioeconomic costs of marine alternative fuels: Evidence from life cycle assessment and techno-economic assessment”, Asst. Prof Yan Ran, Nanyang Technological University, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Each project will receive a total funding of up to S$150,000 (inclusive of IRC) for up to two years. The Consortium congratulates the awardees and looking forward to working with them.
